About the location

LOUISBURGH, COUNTY MAYO

Roonagh Quay 4 miles; Murrisk 8 miles; Westport 14 miles; Knock Airport 54.4 miles; Dublin ferry 185 miles

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

The small town of Louisburgh, County Mayo, is located on the Bunowen River, and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by lovely rural scenery, the town offers endless opportunities to explore Ireland. Boasting three Blue Flag beaches, Bertra, Carramore and Old Head, and in close proximity to Sheaffrey and Mweelrea Mountains, there is something to please everybody. Take a ferry from Roonagh Pier out to Clare Island, one of the inhabited islands in Clew Bay, and on a clear day, enjoy views towards Connemara and Achill, or discover the more traditional Féile Chois Cuain, May Bank Holiday music festival. This lovely location offers plenty to see and do for all ages.
