Overton Vale Cottages

Overton-on-Dee 1.5 miles. Two attractive, detached, brick-built cottages set on the owner's 3-acre smallholding, 1.5 miles from Overton-on-Dee and 5 miles from Ellesmere. Occupying a beautiful country setting, close to the England/Wales border, the properties enjoy shared, seasonal use of the owner's heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months. Booked separately or together, guests are sure to enjoy a comfortable holiday at this group of cottages, which are full of character and both come with cosy woodburners. Relax in your private garden, admiring the surrounding scenery, or take picturesque walks and cycle rides and visit the lakes, shops and pubs at Ellesmere, all within easy reach of these cottages. After a walk you can settle by the shores of the River Dee, enjoying a well-deserved drink in The Boat Inn at Erbistock just a few miles away, a beautiful 16th century pub overlooking the river and serving fine ale and food. Follow the river further into Wales to discover the majestic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, just over ten miles away, with its spectacular, far-reaching views. With picturesque Llangollen, the Roman city of Chester and medieval Shrewsbury all a short drive away, these two properties occupy a pretty setting and provide a delightful holiday retreat.

Built from brick, it houses exposed beams, a woodburner, two snug bedrooms and a private lawned garden, which boasts unparalleled views of the valley below.

Visitors have use of the owner's heated outdoor swimming pool and there are plenty of scenic walks and cycle rides in the area.

The Nine Meres of Ellesmere are nearby and in the town you can find a variety of shops and pubs.

Little Pentre Barn is a perfect base for couples and small groups to enjoy the many nearby sight and delights of Chester, North Wales, Shropshire and beyond.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Overton is situated on the River Dee and enjoys magnificent views towards Llangollen. The picturesque village centre is a conservation area and features many interesting historical listed buildings, a number of small shops, places to get a bite to eat and an excellent public house. Many of the houses here can be traced back to the 18th Century. Overton is also home to St Mary's Church, which can be traced back as far as the Norman Conquest and is well known for its ancient churchyard yew trees which are one of the 'Seven Wonders of Wales'. There is a picnic area adjacent to the church where visitors can join the Maelor Walk, a 25 mile long footpath, or enjoy some of the 40 miles of public footpaths that run through the surrounding countryside. Nearby attractions include the Nine Meres of Ellesmere and the historic city of Chester.
